• on the one hand, the professional unions of the pilotage stations from metropolitan France and from the departments and overseas territories in a first college.
• on the other hand, the professional unions of pilots duly authorized who perform their activity outside the aforementioned stations which make up the second college.

The present Federation aims at

On the national level :

• promoting the interests of the profession at the highest level and seeing to the good enforcement of the texts in force on both the organisation and the running of pilotage
• developing solidarity feelings by strengthening the foundations of the professional consciousness and maintaining the essential cohesion necessary to the defence of the pilots'interests.

  On the international level :

• setting up any useful contacts with similar bodies, especially in the member states of the European Union.

A few figures

In 2007, 99 952 pilotage operations were carried out.

The whole french pilotage organisation represents 32 pilotage stations. 23 in France and 5 in the French overseas departments, 3 in the french overseas territories and a deep sea pilot's station. Besides the onshore equipment for pilotage stations - offices, computers, radars, cars, and maintenance installations - the nautical outfit is composed of one pilot cutter, 101 fast pilot boats (of a minimum length of 12 metres), three helicopters one workshop barge.
