EMPA was founded in 1963 on a French pilot's initiative, Mr. Antoine MARCANTETTI from the Marseilles-Fos pilotage station. From 1963 till 1969, he was the founder President.
In 2004 EMPA includes 23 member countries with those of the european community: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Irland, Italia, Letonia, Lituania, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovénia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Turkey, United kingdom.
EMPA's existence is caused by a better information exchange between its members with the aim of a constant bettering of the various aspects of the professional life of pilots of the European Community and the associate members.
